Ocean City Yacht Club, Ocean City, NJ Sailing Camp offers children ages 8 and up an opportunity to learn to sail and participate in fun and educational on-shore activities. The internship program is supervised by a college professor with internship advising experience, so college credit may be arranged with the agreement of the intern's home institution. Hours are 8:30-3:30 PM from June 12, 2023 until August 11, 2023.
Qualifications
Upbeat attitude essential ability to and genuine interest in working with children ages 8 and up
College sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate
Persons pursuing bachelor's degree in an educational discipline are particularly encouraged to apply
Comfortable around and on the water, ability to swim.
Exhibit flexibility with teaching curriculum as wind and weather can change plans of sea vs. land activities
Willingness to obtain and be reimbursed for CPR and First Aid Training, and criminal record check and child abuse clearance as required by NJ
Responsibilities
Assist in the design of engaging and educational craft projects including leading children through the entire project
Be willing to play gym-type games with children of varying ages, thinking of new and creative ways to introduce physical activity into each day
Assist the activity coordinator in scheduling and accompanying campers on local field trips
Teach simple lessons on maritime topics
Check children into and out of camp each day making sure guidelines are followed for parent/guardian pick up
Help with supervising campers at lunch
