All Day Sailing Program (5 Days - 8 Weeks)

  • All Sailors will attend from 9:00 - 3:00
  • This program will offer sailing lessons and skills that will introduce children to the joy of recreational sailing in a safe, fun and supportive environment
  • Basic fundamentals of sailing, including technique, rigging, proper boat handling and maintenance will be introduced
  • Recreational activities such as games both on land and on the water will add to the fun
  • Racing skills will be introduced as the young sailor demonstrates confidence and the ability to view racing as a fun activity that can enhance the sailing experience

Racing Program (8 Weeks)

  • This program is for the more advanced sailor and is particularly suited to aspiring racers and experienced sailors
  • Finer aspects of sail trim, boat handling, racing tactics and rules will be emphasized
  • Sailors will sign up for a particular class or classes (see schedule) and will meet in a small group setting with an instructor designated to teach that particular class
  • Classes will be held Monday through Wednesday mornings with racing in the afternoon
  • Sailors will have the opportunity to attend the MAYRA events on Thursdays.  The South Jersey Summer Series (SJSS) is for junior sailors from MAYRA member and affiliated clubs between the ages of 8 and 18.  Transportation will be provided for an additional fee of $300

Fridays Optional 

  • Instructors will provide private lessons throughout the day to sailors registered in our Junior Program.  There is no additional charge for these lessons.
  • Sailors would sign up for a designated time slot and would report at that time.
  • This will provide an opportunity for those who competed in the previous day’s MAYRA regatta to receive a critique of their performance concentrating on ways to improve their racing skills.
  • This will also provide an opportunity for any sailor who wishes to receive individualized instruction on their boat handling skills or racing skills.
is program requires a solid understanding of Optimist or Sunfish sailing and provides an introduction to racing and race equipment. Sailors must have completed Intro to Optimist  or Sunfish Sailing and be recommended for advancement by the instructor staff.  Coaches will cover all aspects of racing on and off the water.  Sailors must pass the Water Safety Test.  Classes meet for 3 hours, 2 times per week for 8 weeks. Participation in Transitional Green Fleet (TGF) or White Fleet racing is strongly suggested. 12 year olds (Limited rental boats available for additional fee, see registration form) Wed & Fri AM (races Wed & Fri PM)


5 day program for 5-7 year olds to introduce them to sailing, the yacht club and the sea. Activities may include:

  • Sailing lesson with adult on a small sailboat
  • Basic wind lessons, rigging, and knot tying
  • Ride on a power boat
  • Visit with the Coastguard and talk about maritime careers
  • Sailor etiquette lesson, pirate themed treasure hunt, crafts
  • Catch fish, crabs, hermit crabs, and who knows what else at Corson’s Inlet State Park

All participants must have their own appropriately sized US Coast Guard-approved life jacket 

Fee is $225 per child

Parent, grandparent or guardian must accompany children for boating and park activities (2 days). Open to children and grandchildren of club members only. Children must be 5 years old by July 18, 2022 to enroll
