C420 classes are scheduled to allow sailors to sail C420's as well as a Laser Radial or Laser 4.7. To participate in this class, Sailors must be at least 13 years of age on 7/1/20 or entering the 8th grade in September, 2020 and should (1) demonstrate the ability to work as a part of a team: (2) have successfully completed Intro to Opti Racing (3) demonstrate the ability to capsize and recover the boat with a partner without outside assistance. This class will teach the basics of rigging a C420, an introduction to sailing as a team, basic C420 boat handling skills and sailing fundamentals. Classes meet two times a week for 8 weeks, with additional races once a week. Both members of the team must be registered to have a registration considered complete and be placed on the rental list.
C420 Team Racing builds on these concepts, and introduces the concept of working as a team towards winning a race. How to improve your teammate's finish is just as important as improving your own finish. (The club has a certain amount of C420s available for rent on a first come first serve basis. However, we do encourage everyone to use their own boat in lieu of leasing a boat.)
This is a new class offered by the club to introduce young sailors to other boats. We are lucky enough to offer sailing in our newly acquired J22, three Fevas, and two Lightnings. All of these boats are owned by the club, and we are interested in renting them to interested sailors. The intent is to have the sailors skipper the boats with instructors on board until such time that the sailors can sail the boats by themselves. Classes will meet three times a week on Tuesday afternoons, Thursday and Friday mornings. Offered on a first come, first serve basis.
